On Sunday, February 17, from 9 to 11 pm ET/PT NBC will host The Elvis All-Star Tribute, a two-hour star-studded event. It will showcase the music industry’s biggest names as they perform a selection of Presley’s most well-known songs.
Blake Shelton is the host of this special evening as a tribute to Elvis Presley’s ’68 Comeback Special. During this prime-time event, viewers will see a musical recreation of The King’s 1968 special, along with some rare footage. Also, it will include interviews with Priscilla Presley and Steve Binder, who directed the original special. Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie, will also make a special appearance.
A selection of the music industry’s most recognizable performers will attempt to recapture the magic Elvis created back in 1968 including Ed Sheeran, Dierks Bentley, John Legend, Little Big Town and Jennifer Lopez. Also, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban will perform.
If you want to savor the Presley classics in the special, look for The Best of the ’68 Comeback Special. RCA/Legacy Recording will release this album to coincide with the tribute. It will include the songs that served as an inspiration for this televised event. In addition, it will include a newly-recorded version of Presley’s legendary song, If I Can Dream.
This version is unique because it combines Presley’s original vocals along with new performances. They are currently offering The Best of the ’68 Comeback Special for pre-order in a digital format and on CD.
